Our History
We acquired our first longhair dachshund from Mrs. Gracie Hill in the late 1960’s and that was the
start of the Teckelhof Standard Longhair Dachshunds. In spite of limited breeding and showing,
Teckelhof dachshunds produced some lovely dogs. Edith and Charlotte both lived in Stony
Brook, NY at this time. Robin Gianopoulos (Stony Brook dachshunds) was a great mentor and
friend; this friendship continues today.
Charlotte moved to Arizona with the help of the US Army and from there continued with the
Teckelhof Standard Longhairs. Because of the friendship of Arvilla Mayhall and Don Ingamells,
Wavecrest’s Park Ave ML took up residence in the Teckelhof household. A blending of this male’s
bloodlines with the Teckelhof Standard Longhairs created the basis for our current Teckelhof
miniature dachshunds.
Edith has now retired from breeding, but continues to be an important part of the Teckelhof
tradition.
Our Goals
First and foremost we aim to breed healthy (in mind and body) dachshunds, always using the
AKC approved standard for our breed. Our dogs are our pets first, show dogs second. We breed
on a limited basis as well feel that our dogs should be raised and live in our homes and deserve
special individual attention. Therefore, we must limit the number of dogs we produce and keep.
We follow the Dachshund Club of America Code of Ethics and abide by all AKC rules. We health
test our dogs in order to ensure we have done everything possible to produce healthy long lived
dogs.
